guide books and travel memoirs in our nonfiction sections from 910-919, but did you know that you can get travel e-books as well?
The Maryland Digital eLibrary Consortium/OverDrive has travel guide and memoir e-books you can check out. They include e-books guides from Fodor's, Frommer's, and Lonely Planet, as well as great travel memoirs. Included in the collection are two of my favorite travel memoirs. These are the thoughtful, soul searching Wild by Cheryl Strayed and the entertaining and fascinating A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson.
Also have a look at the DK Eyewitness Travel e-books in the Gale Virtual Reference Library. These e-books are always available and you can read them within your browser.
Besides travel guidebooks and memoirs, don't forget to check our catalog for some entertaining fiction and nonfiction reads that are set in or about the places you are traveling too! This can be a fun way to learn the history of the place you are visiting or enjoy a story set there. Don't have a lot of room to pack books? Check out some e-books or audiobooks you'll enjoy! Audiobooks make a perfect way to pass the time when traveling by plane, train, or automobile.
Have a look at the many reading suggestions for adults, teens, and kids that would make good summer reads! Great reading suggestions for all ages can also be found on our Pinterest boards. Remember to ask librarians at your local branch for readings suggestions just for you or ask online via our What Do I Check Out Next readers' advisory service.
We're happy to help you plan your next adventure, and your books to read while traveling, whether it be Alaska or Washington, D.C. or around the globe!
